The Freedom of the Word

The freedom of the word
It demands to be spoken
It doesn’t care about time
Or about what’s broken
Because everything’s fine
In eternity’s eyes
And it demands
That I shed my disguise
And stand afresh
With newborn faith
To bask in love
And take from the hate
Because the world’s spinning round
But nobody sees
That we’re living like reeds
Tossed in the breeze
At the edge of the lake
For goodness sake
We’ve been too long
In the dreams that we make
And living like thieves
Out on the run
Only lasts so long
Until you’re undone
