Learning to take care of my own heart first
Instead of going round picking daisys
Responding to every cry for help
All those errant save me’s
And when the night is done
And I go back to my bed
No one ever asks
What was it you said
What was it you answered
When you came to me
They just think I’m bluffing
Maybe someday they’ll see
That I signed my life away
To a death warrant in their hands
When I agreed to build
Upon shifting sands
Instead of the firm
And ever present true
This time I’ll trust me
I’ll trust me instead of you
