Roots

The weight of worldly wisdom
Lies on me
And there is something
I used to be
But the far distant shore
Has pulled me in like a tide
Now I'm three quarters half alive
Learning to breathe in from my roots
As this plant grows shoots
Up into the open air
I could've sworn that he was there
