The Fragile Peace

There’s a fragile peace that cracks across his smile
And God knows I haven’t seen it in a while
And when they say it reaches into your eyes
I can see the recognition that it all dies
And I lean in close so you feel my fire
Before the world spins round and the anchor tire
Of pulling me into the ground
But you have always been the softest sound
That ever fell into my ears
An I’ve been listening for years and years
Under weight and encumberation
Before iTunes was a radio station
