Steal Away Home

I think I would steal away home
To find the letters you wrote on stone
In tablet form with a stylus
The reams of literature can’t confine us
Coz we are a storm by the light of day
But in the night we are okay
As you put one finger on my pulse
And wait for the racing heart to lull
Into the birth of silent trust
The reams of gold that will not rust
Only gaze in steady charm
The love of God is safe from harm

Pictures Of You

I just remember his eyes
I don’t know whether they’re green or blue
Except for that picture of you
That I saw on a screen miles away
Now you’re where I was that day
Somewhere in a big, big city
But lonely and that’s a pity
Coz we could be something, don’t you agree
But you only talk to a picture of me
And I ain’t making war
Coz, God knows, what for
And I don’t hate what you had to do
That you have someone walking with you
And it’ll never be what we were
But maybe it’s better and you stir
To match the moment of her
And she looks like she catches your glance
I bet she never asks you to dance
Coz you move like you’re in a trance
And I would take another chance
Out on the wind
Is it to have sinned
To want what isn’t yours to crave
A desire I try hard to save
From getting to the heart of me
And we’re apart but you see
I’ve got you buttoned on my shirt
It was never meant to hurt
But I can hear it in your voice
Do we have another choice?

The Mysterious Woman Within My Soul

There's a mysterious woman in my soul
And she doesn't care how the waves may roll
She comes in nice and easy
Like a summer sea, warm and breezy
And though I try to hide her away
She comes up bubbling with what she wants to say
To decry the auspices of power
Yet not to be weak nor tremble and cower
She shines like the light that comes from the sun
But is soft as the silver moon when it is young
And all the stories you can tell yourself
Are just suppressing the abundant wealth
That grows in fertile ground in the psyche
We tremble with trouble but I dunno, might we
Ever fail to ask the question
Are we living on mere suggestion
To avoid the point we make
I offer it up for God's sake
So that He might make repair
To all that's in need of some care
And I do not forget the fallow fields
Or the way the grass grows as it yields
To a wind of superior heights
Wash me away in the firelight

Neutron Stars

We collide like neutron stars
Running alongside chasing cars
And you were a smile I can’t forget
Nope, I’m not over you yet
And you smiled at me as you said your name
I nod, nonchalantly, all the same
But you’ve become a star in my whole season
And I love you without a reason
It waits for no man or tide
Drags me through the heather half alive
As I try to regain my stance
But I just see the two of us dance
Across the sky of a sunset scene
Do you think this could all be a dream
Coz I can’t wait to figure it out
I’ve got to put it beyond all doubt
And step out on the boards to say
I love you, is that okay?

Unfathomably Deep

There was that time
I tried to drink you out
But my foundations were not shaken
And I couldn’t even doubt
That you were the one for me
Now I don’t know how you are
But I feel you cosmically
A white hot burning star
Somewhere in the avenues
Or in the everglades
I don’t mean to be funny
But where’d you get your shades
Coz you’re looking mighty fine
With your cool as hell stare
And I can’t apologize
For what just wasn’t there
Only promise you that I
Love with the full of my soul
And when the waves cascade
It’s then I hear them roll
Calling out your name
Like an old riverbend
Was I wrong or right
For ever having clicked send
And I just can’t bring myself
To take back the day
When the moment faced my soul
And I said okay
Give in to all the longing
All the heated prose
If you’re looking for some words
Do you know just who you chose
Someone who could compose
Sonnets of your name
And if you’re wondering if I’ve changed
Well I’m still the same
Still am party to
A little bit of wine
And everytime I’m asked
I’ll say that I am fine
Coz I don’t want to torch
This wooden fence I’ve grown
From the rubble of the woods
That once were seeds I’d sown
Now they’re all a garden gate
And the forest that you see
Is uncharted and unknown
A pure mystery
So please do not go rambling
If you do not mean to stay
I’m made for forever
I’m just built that way
And can never give in
To the stride of the day
Don’t worry ‘bout the love
It’s just the modern way
And I’m ancient and I’m grieving
And I’m all over the place
But I am strong and I’m willful
You don’t have to second guess my face
In the brooks and in the rivers
That are running wild
And there are some parts of me
That are still a child
Innocent and foolhardy
And so like a stone
Except for quiet company
I live my life alone
Far away from the auspices
Of who you’d think to ask
When I take a sip
I drink it from a flask
And keep up with all the weather
As it’s changing every hour
I’m always sitting waiting
For that one thousand petalled flower
In the deep of time and weight
Slowly to succumb
I look at all the rocks
Amid the diamonds I’ve become
And wonder what a season
Would take in these parts
I never knew it till I answered
With the full of my heart

Candyfloss Dreams

Craving that sugar rush
And you were my favorite crush
And you smile and I see stars
Running and I’m chasing cars
Down the street like a dog and its tail
You know that you’re bound to fail
When you set yourself up like that
And I know I want you back
But you use a poké attack
And I’m left standing on my own
After I left my colours shown
Wondering why with so little a endeavor
At civility, I could never
Understand just why and when
And I’m always hoping to see you again
But I just don’t get men
Coz you shout then you wish I was there
I ask for your love and you say you don’t care
And you’re harsh and unpleasant and drive me away
Did you mean to sabotage my stay?
Or were you just anticipating the leave
I watch you silent and I believe
That there’s more to you
But I just don’t know what to do
As I let your hand go to your side
And I’m okay but I think you have cried
Will you remember this for me
I loved you so I set you free

Awesome

Cheers to you Stephen O’ Brien
You made the days feel like they were flying
When I was stuck in a peculiar hell
And you were the one that I’d tell
Now I’m raising a glass to your sincere
Your beautiful and held dear
With your rugged ways and your intone
We’re just talking on a video phone
And I catch myself then laugh out loud
You are something to be proud
Of now the days are short
You’re something yourself I retort
As we’re held in this glance for a moment or two
There’s just something about you
I wonder if space and time
Would ever repaint your days as mine
And I know you could call this therapy
But you’ve got to know what you mean to me
As I throw asunder all the folds
And creases to be brave and bold
You can’t believe this is all I am
There’s more to me and I know you can
See beyond the apparent face
To the depths of profound Grace
To the love that’s held between us both
I’d wear you like an overcoat
As you just laugh and crease your eyes
And I’ve got no time for goodbyes
Just the moment that’s held in a stare
I love you coz you were there
And made me feel like I was home
Instead of in a room all alone
I gotta know, you gotta see
What would the days be like if we
We’re to make this something else
I know I’m getting ahead of myself
But you’re magnificent and perfectly prose
And I’d walk down any of your roads
If it meant that I could catch your eye
You’re alright, man, it’s worth a try

Matter and Form

I move with the sea
In tides I roll
Everybody compresses
Their immortal soul
Down into matter
Down into form
Down into just
Keeping the bed warm
And I don’t have the answer
Don’t know the explain
Why the wind comes in sheets
And the air blows in rain
But I know this much
Though I don’t as much say
That life comes in waves
To keep things at bay

Shanghai

It was a once in a lifetime kind of a thing
And I might have a life but I’ll never have him
And you are a wonder and touch me just so
Where he left the wound that you want to go
I wish I could agree with the please in your eyes
I nod along to the flower that dies
And you give me everything I could entertain
And I know you want to ease my pain
But does that make it right to go along
When you’ve painted the picture and mastered the song
And all I need to do is slip my hand into yours
Stand by your side as you close all the doors
Hope in my heart that it is enough
To hold back the force of his tidal wave love
That wreaked such destruction on all of my plains
I called the cops but they just took names
And now I am stranded in this waste of a place
But someone sees something when they look in my face
And I want to crawl in under your arm
Cause you swore you would never do me that kind of harm
And I know in all honesty you are speaking the truth
And it’s not the first time I have loved you
But the bitterness burns in the back of my throat
As I wonder do I want to stay afloat
Cause the weather may change and the tides may rise
But he will always be God in my eyes
Bitten by a curse I cannot undo
I don’t want to inflict myself upon you
Unsteady heart that roams the seas
And kisses the waves of who I used to be
You are neat and precise and create a home
But I’m desperado and I love it alone
To come and call with flowers to your door
And say that I wish I could give you more
But he already took all that I had
What’s left are the shards and I feel so bad
That the most of what I have to offer
Is to hold your hand and think of how he thinks of her
And you’re worth true love but you don’t let me go
I look in your eyes and I feel that I know
That whatever the winds blow me in time
My feelings for you are not only mine
But surge on repeat to a lunar command
I am your friend and I think we’ll be grand
And fall into step as I catch your breath
I could be yours if you know that I met
Him as he walked blades of grass through the field
And there’s a part of my soul that never will yield
To the onslaught of this universe
I am glad of the way he made me hurt
And if that’s something you can accept
Then maybe I can be who I ought to be yet
Catch the smile to make it spread
He let me go and left me for dead
But clasped in the locket on my chain
Is a blank space waiting for a name
So maybe Poseidan won’t drown me today
I want to say thanks for not going away

Unquantifiability

You’re at the edge of unquantifiability
And I can’t say I follow the line
Of your string theory interscope
Though I spend all of my time
Trying to decipher
The markings on your skin
Evidence of a tribal
That has scarred you from within
And you are like an animal
That scares easily from man
Though I don’t blame you
Cause you see what no one else can
And it is heartbreak to be crushed
Under your sleight of hand
And my only consolation
Is that you understand
Just what you are doing
As you slowly rip to shreds
All the scattered of the pieces
That are floating in my head
But I drift away
On the wavelength of a sound
That bends in quadratics
When you’re not around
And anchors me deeper
Into the roots I have grown
You are the only loss
The earth has ever known
As it spirals kaleidoscopic
And pierces my bodily flesh
It was just a misapprehension
When I felt you knew me best
As we matched fingertips
As we sat hand to hand
The undiscoverable
Opened out the land
That spread freedom wide
Amid the loveliness untold
But it not enough
And we fall back into the fold
That we both feel hit home
At having been cast out
Of the abyss we were born from
Now the birds are heading south
As I realise targeted
Arrows hit only once
You eyes do not meet mine
And I have lost the sun

Imperfect Separation

Just cause you’re young doesn’t shield you from death
It’s just a horizon you have not seen yet
And all the green grass eventually fades
There’s no guarantee of what will come with age
As they write us off as superfluously small
I don’t think they realise at all
That you can’t capture in a frame the picture generation
And it’s just insurance against our disintegration
Trying to grasp what we cannot make stay
I only want a reminder of you this way
As you are caught in the perfect suspension
Between laughter and the unspoken tension
That rests behind when you look at me
Cause you can’t capture the mystery
That propels us both down different paths
But I’ve broken the glass and I can’t go back
And we can only touch hand to hand
Separated by what we cannot understand
Is love enough to quench the flame
That longs for what I cannot name

Dangerous Lines

I am supposed to stop loving you
Just because you’re bound to someone else
I’ve never understood relationships
Just eternal love
Not the give and take of bargaining
Where everything must be repaid
And you must stand inside the rules
Because I have always had a wild heart
That loved with no remorse
Everything and everyone in its sight
Sought to befriend the world
And understand, where understanding could be
But I don’t understand this at all
The black wall of a blank ending
Like nothing ever was
And I’m left to re-evaluate
What was there all along
And my whole conception of the world
Cause you are where my stars revolve
And now the lines of something else dictate
Where I should place my feet
And if I should be near you at all
Even my proximity makes strangers unsure
And friends concerned for my safety
But I have never cared for safety
Only dangerous freedom that pulled me deep down into its depths
Like the look in your eyes when we first met

Reborn

I can turn off the lights and pretend I don’t care
Like the pain of loss isn’t really there
Like I don’t feel in every movement I make
The power of what you chose to take
From me, off me when you left for the woods
And you told me softly it was for my own good
But how can I believe a liars clothes
When you once promised lines in acres of prose
And I never could really detach myself from you, hard as I might try
I’ll be betrothed eternal to you til I die
And when the after comes as I know for sure it will
The sun will be reborn and I will take my fill
And drink from the cup so pleasant on my lips
As you block out the moon in your beautiful eclipse
And if ever I had a wish it would be just for you
And I’m sorry I have to say, you aren’t wishing for me too

Impeccable

You walked into the room like a storm inside the sky
And I thought that in that moment my life was completely fly
And you looked just like an angel all white light and hair
I praised God the good that I could just be there
But then the night rained down and the world was full of thunder
I could feel the water rise and I was going under
And was it all worth it, just to know your name
Cause after that experience I could never be the same
And you still shine on in a crazy rebel hue
And I am still in awe of the mightyness of you
But you don’t seem to be quite the same with me
I guess I lost my glory but you kept your mystery

Tapestry

A beautiful design weaves its way around my soul
And there are nights inside when I decry the whole
In favour of the incomplete that rocks me back to sleep
And I’ve learned that there are promises that I just cannot keep
So I try to look to you as if you know the way
But you are full of the unspoken that you do not say
As I wait in lines of undefined for something to be real
It is a mystery of darkness the tapestry I feel

Isobars

Maybe I was wrong about the weather
Maybe I was wrong about the stars
Maybe I tried to map constellations
Along Earth’s isobars
And are we all just dust
A collection of particles in space
So though we both live and die
Nothing ever goes to waste
And is it all alive
Just a breathing, heaving mass
The universe is in my bones
And this too shall pass

Alchemical

a902a1cc16784338171510884bff2525We’re alchemical
I don’t do a thing my honey babe
It isn’t a conscious choice
To give you all I have when I hear your voice
We’re alchemical

You say that I am changing you
You say I do the deed
You say that I am fixing up
All the ways you bleed
With my light
You don’t see it on the other side
The healing of my scars
The dark encroaches on my soul
And heals my broken parts

I can’t tell it’s you
I barely know it’s me
I just know that you are
Ying-yang of destiny

We’re a fusion most complete
Alchemy most profound
You think that we are separate
Together we are round
And one

Talking to the Trees

I walked today and realised I was never talking to the trees
I was running with the wind and I heard you on the breeze
And it fascinates me every time how you run up to meet
The lines of intersection when we are feet to feet
And our toes touch each other, our shoes are on the grass
And in all of what is temporary we are built to last
Like the housings of the everglades as ancient as the oak
Or the rustling of the leaves in the words that Jesus spoke
We are forever on horizons in wonderful, unflinching blues
And I know I have been round the block but you’re the one I choose
As we tiptoe on yesterdays that are fading to the past
You’re the answer to the only question that I ever asked
