The Bullet In My Body

There is a bullet in my body, some kind of shrapnel
I got from the war I fought
With a boy who can’t be bought
Not with trinkets polished to gold
Not with promises of growing old
Only the truth raises his eyes
And lets him see with no disguise
As he looks into me
Letting part of it go free
As it struggles to get loose
What is the point that you prove
When you seek to impress
Me so you can see me undress
In your mind
And I ask what’s left behind
In the water that we find
Somewhere on the shore
And I visit Loch Lomond and adore
The wilderness of mountains frame
When the English played their games
With the lives of their so called subjects
But I reject
Their colonial expanse
That would have killed the dance
Every human heart is party to
And I see that freedom in you
As you fight with me
And you don’t know that your integrity
Is my favourite thing about ya
Did you think I doubt ya
When you say that no means no
And I love you but I let it go
And trust that fate will bring us together
In this sea of highland weather
The Celt in my bones
Won’t leave it alone
And I just call you “one more time”
Would it be a crime
If I crossed your girlfriends line
That has been drawn in the sand
And I cannot love someone else’s man
Though I do
My soul will ever call to you
Across the ocean between us
I think God might dream us
When we conceive of a future we own
And do you lose if the game has been thrown?

Rain Dance

There where I was I stood defenceless
Out in the open plain
And she brought the rain dance again and again
And it’s not the men
It’s the love I bear
For those who live to tear
The fabric of what we are
For the sake of a star
That will never rise
In our constellation
I’m suddenly at Longford train station
Waiting for someone to arrive
And I realise you are alive
As you were
And you’re not with her
You’re standing alone
Looking at your phone
And I’m sitting in my car
Just staring at the place where you are
But I look away
Because I cannot say
What I will buy
If I could only try
With the money I have
And the feeling bad
Was a season
Without reason
I abridge
At least God let you live
For all these years
And stemmed my tears
In the flow
I didn’t realise you loved me, you know

The Disease Of Dissatisfaction

Photo by Ian Turnell on Pexels.com
You sit in silence, you hear the sound
Of doom now that it’s all around
And I swear I’m a first class citizen
So don’t pity them
Those who ask to see you cry
Because they know everyone die
And they’re trying to put off the date
But why let it lie in wait
I stood up in my two boots
And issued a challenge to my roots
And I grow into a tree
Stuck in the same spot, you see
And the vibration gives off waves
Are you the hero who always saves
Like Superman but in his Smallville years
Don’t think I didn’t see the tears
You cried in secret
I made a promise and I keep it
Every day, I said I won’t forget
And you challenge me but I haven’t yet
I was hiding in the bush
When I said there was no rush
And you were in the long grass
When you worked up the nerve to ask
Me out on a date
You call it logistics, I call it fate
Coz what was held between us both
That evening on the coast
Of the shore that we both know
I love him so I let it flow

My Captivity

I swore I would always be free
But I’m held captive with you
It’s closer we’re getting
To what pulls us through
And the thread is fine
And, Lord knows, I walk the line
Down another avenue
It may be just me and you
In our all and sundry
And it’s just another Monday
Kissing the stars
Or your lips behind prison bars
But I’ve got a key
Would you want to escape with me
In fields of gold
Or do you prefer your cell so cold
And he does a dance with his eyes
The perfect perforation in his disguise
“Would you love me true?”
I will of course, will you love me too
And he bats his eyelashes
Flips them up and down
And he has me already
In a white gown
But I’ve grown out of marriage
Of the dream I once had
Coz the more that I wanted it
The more I felt bad
And it’s silent for a beat
And the heat
Rises between us two
I leave but I come back to you
To regale the tale
Of the Infinite
I don’t know about you
But David might
Take a second glance
Give me love like it’s my last chance
To catch a star
I don’t think I’ll ever know what you are

Life Makes Love

Life makes love
With the sky, with the sea
With the atoms that make up
The constellations of me
And the design
Is its own making
It counts ever hair
And each breath I’m taking
As I find a new way
To express the expanse
And it is as though
We’re all part of a dance
Living and moving
Breathing and being
Looking through lenses
And new ways of seeing
And if there ever
Comes a midnight
Know in your heart
That you’ll be alright
Coz you made it this far
Through forests and trees
Through brambles and flowers
That blow in the breeze
And somehow, somewhere
Someone’s watching over you
If you see it in cinema
Well you’re looking for two

God, Gimme a Sign….Oh, Right

the_oc_seth_che

This is the first and only time I’ll write a poem
To go with a gif I found
Its just the feeling of being fucked with
By the Universe is too profound
I go looking for apples and there is an orchard
Of trees growing in my house
I go looking for lions and find them in nets
So I can be the mouse
And every day its clearer, every day its true
There is a third energy coming from me and you
Pilfering our daydreams right out of our hands
And making them come true outside of demands
From places we can’t hold and heavys we can’t lift
Accept the love you’re given because its a gift
And worrying too much and being a try hard
Is only blocking windows because horizons are too far
And even though I doubt and even though I claim
I fall by the wayside and am picked up again
By a power I don’t know and surely can’t contain
Don’t curse falling water when you love the rain
And don’t try to make it sacred, don’t try to make it holy
When using words like wisdom that are coming from you only
And making it a monster or making it a queen
Denys the reality of living the daydream
That was made and designed by a higher hand
He brought Him to You so trust the command

Up, Over and Under

Bold and beautiful, striding and brave
Danger and dark may come but are just your slave
Hair in your eyes
Framed eyes soft and wise
And words that just dropped
Watched as your heart stopped
Lost for words with your full flare on me
There was no response as I could see
I was afraid and an ocean swirled
But warm, it enveloped and curled
This half light with you, stay
A shadow world resting in grey
I don’t understand and I’m terrified
Unknown to my eyes, this is why I hide
Apparently this yellow road is our path
Breath on my cheek, God whispers so to my heart
So, I’ll put one foot forward to meet your toes
Feel the wind blow, breathe it as it goes

Beautiful Skies

I was raised in a land with beautiful skies
And got lost in a moment of heated goodbyes
But ever the optimist to shine on the age
The sun kisses the horizon each turn of a page
So walk down to the water with me for a stroll
As we watch the fish swim and the waves as they roll
As the little grass grows up all around
Here in this silence there isn’t a sound
And you can taste years and the weight of it all
From the height of your flight to the inevitable fall
Cause all things born of earth and all things born of time
Will return to the hearth of the fire sublime
